How to Raise Muslim Boys
We live in a world where raising children is the most difficult trail Muslim parents face. The Prophet(s) told us that Allah swt would test his Ummah with the following three things:
Health: Some of us struggle with always having some sort of health issue no matter what diet we follow, no matter what habits we change in our lifestyle, and no matter how hard we persevere. Health is a blessing from Allah swt, and some of us are just tested through our health.
Money: The majority of people are content and live comfortably in the world with food, water, clothing, and shelter. Many of us live like kings and queens if you compare our lifestyle to the lifestyle of the Sahabas and the Prophet(s). And then there are people who are tested by not having sufficient money or means and go hungry. I believe this is probably the most difficult test one can endure. May Allah swt bless those who are tested in this way. Our test with money can also be by having too much of it, where we abuse it or misuse it.
Family (child): Many of us have migrated to the west, and so our parent’s and grandparents’ major concern was to obtain safety for their families. My parents migrated to the US when I was very young, and my grandparents escaped religious persecution when they had their children to care for. We live in a safe land, have enough to eat, and can gain an education but struggle with keeping our kids aligned with their religion and moral value. Today, we are tested with children. It is the third major test. Family or children in our case.
So what can we do to raise children who are God-fearing stewards of this earth? How can we raise Muslim men from our boys? The following is an important Talk I took part in about Raising Muslims Boys into Men on Naima Roberts YouTube channel. I hope that you may benefit insha’Allah.
