Kefir, A Prophetic drink with excellent benefits

Why Kefir? -If you are looking to gain optimal health and wellness, fermented foods are the way to go. Kefir is probably one of the most straightforward food to ferment. If you have an ailment and want something natural and effective to help you find relief, kefir is something you should try. Kefir is a live food that is more superior and nutritionally beneficial than processed food stored on the shelf.

  1. A Prophetic Drink-There are ancients scrolls in Turkey attributed to the Prophet Ibrahim(a),  in which he claimed that his long, healthy life is accredited to the fermented milk product that he consumed. This was kefir. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (s) is known to have said that these kefir grains were a gift from Allah swt to him, and he would drink them daily.

  2. Kefir is more POTENT than Yogurt- Yogurt is the commonly known dairy probiotic source in the western diet. But kefir has a more extraordinary rich and diverse source of beneficial microorganisms. Kefir is similar to yogurt, but it is considered a right-turning bacteria, and yogurt is a left-turning bacteria. What does it mean to be a right-turning bacteria? Kefir is a live colony that, when consumed and inside, will live and get rid of pathogens and parasites. It finds a place to colonize and dominate inside your gut and become the dominant bacteria inside you. This is a fantastic thing because kefir can become so strong that anti-biotics will not be able to kill it off. Kefir will colonize your intestinal tract and remain there for a long time. Yogurt, a left-turning bacteria, is food for bacteria and only lives for 24 hours.

  3. Kefir vs. Yogurt - Homemade kefir contains over 60 beneficial probiotics and yeasts. We know them as good bacteria which help you feel and look better. Yogurt only has up to 7 good bacteria.

  4. Used to preserve milk- Kefir has been around for thousands of years. Through the centuries, people used kefir to help preserve milk when there was no refrigeration. They would place kefir cultures into their milk which would preserve their milk by acidifying the bacteria and controlling the environment. The good bacteria would dominate and keep the pathogens and harmful bacteria out of the milk. This process made milk safe to drink and preserved it. When you drink the kefir milk, it does the same for your insides.

  5. Consumed to live a long life -The people of the caucus mountains testify that drinking kefir with every meal extended their lives way past 100 years of age.

  6. Kefir can improve bone health- In the western world, among women, osteoporosis is the deterioration of bone tissue and can dramatically raise your risk of fractures. One of the most effective ways to improve bone health is by increasing your intake of adequate calcium daily. Homemade kefir made with raw cow’s milk has a great source of calcium and vitamin K12. Vitamin K12 helps your body better metabolize calcium. Taking vitamin B12 with calcium has reduced fractures by about 80%. Studies in animals have shown an increase in calcium absorption in bone cells when consuming kefir. This leads to improved bone density which helps prevent fractures.

  7.  Drinking kefir improves digestive health- It has many beneficial yeast and probiotic bacteria. The 60 different strains of probiotics have delivered positive results in treating IBS(irritable bowel syndrome), diarrhea, bloating, constipation, Crohn's disease, and a host of many other digestive conditions.

  8. May help inhibits cancer growth- Various studies conclude that fermented foods can inhibit cancerous tumor growth by reducing carcinogenic compounds. Many of the studies have been performed on animals.

  9. It helps detox your body-A a wide variety of processed foods, and the environmental toxins create enormous health problems if left unchecked. Fortunately, the bacteria introduced to the Your Body by drinking kefir can destroy these toxins.

  10. What does Kefir mean? -The name kefir is derived from the Turkish word 'key if', which means feeling good after eating. This is a powerful version of yogurt.

  11.  Reduces allergies- Kefir properties can overpower inflammatory markers responsible for respiratory problems such as allergies and asthma.

  12. Kefir is extremely potent- Kefir has powerful anti-bacterial properties. The probiotics in kefir inhibit the growth of various harmful bacteria such as salmonella, H pylori, and even E.coli.

  13. Kefir is unlike milk- Lactose intolerant individuals are generally able to tolerate kefir. Regular dairy food contains sugars called lactose. Many people cannot break down and digest lactose properly, known as lactose intolerance. Dairy foods like kefir and yogurt are fermented and turn lactose into lactic acid. This process makes kefir contain a much lower content of lactose than milk, and the reason it is generally more tolerable by lactose-intolerant individuals.

  14.  Helps strengthen your teeth- Kefir contains 1% of sugar, as opposed to 4% in yogurt. So it's a better choice of calcium content without all the sugar. The calcium helps to strengthen your teeth and make them more resilient and less sensitive and, in turn, prevents cavities

  15. Kefir supports weight loss-The issues of obesity and being overweight are partly caused by an imbalance of the gut microbe. Introducing kefir into your daily diet can balance you gut microbiom.

What is inside Kefir?-Kefir is loaded with an overabundant amount of essential minerals and nutrients, including calcium and magnesium. Kefir is very low on sugar, fat, and calories; it certainly healthier than any fruit juice. During the fermentation process, lactic acid bacteria turn the lactose in milk into lactic acid, and kefir tastes sour like a drinkable yogurt.
